| Chris Oswald Director State Government Affairs
| Christopher Oswald is Director of State Government Affairs for the Mortgage Bankers Association, where he leads MBA's advocacy efforts in 25 western and southern states. Oswald plays a pivotal role in working with MBA members, state mortgage lending associations, legislators and regulators to advance MBA policies at the state and local level.
Oswald has developed and advocated MBA's position on issues critical to the real estate finance industry including; restrictive lending legislation, foreclosure moratorium proposals, loan originator licensing and federal SAFE Act implementation, mortgage fraud prevention, and vacant property registration.
Prior to joining MBA in 2007, Oswald served as the Director of the Criminal Justice and Homeland Security Task Forces for the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), the nation's largest non-partisan, not-for-profit state legislators association.
As State Liaison with the National Rifle Association for five years, Oswald successfully lobbied pro-Second Amendment issues and coordinated grassroots and electoral efforts in several states throughout the country.
Oswald has also served as an aide to Congressman Bill Baker, volunteered in Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's legislative office, and worked on a variety of campaigns.
A member of the California State Bar, Oswald earned a J.D. and Governmental Affairs Certificate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and a B.A. in International Political Economy from Whitworth College. He is native of Walnut Creek, California.
