Robert E. Story, Jr. Chairman
| Robert E. Story, Jr., CMB, Chairman of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA), is President and Chief Executive Officer of Seattle Financial Group, parent company to Seattle Mortgage, Seattle Bank, Seattle Insurance Group, Seattle Capital and Seattle Escrow. He oversees the management of these business units to ensure strategic alignment with the company's overall goals. The company, originally founded in 1944 as Seattle Mortgage, is a family owned and operated business now in its third generation of serving the home finance and banking needs of the greater Puget Sound area, as well as other western states. A graduate of the University of Washington, Story joined Seattle Mortgage in 1982 after serving as construction manager for a real estate development firm in Seattle. He has managed all aspects of residential loan production, construction lending and commercial loan brokerage and was instrumental in Seattle Financial Group's diversification over the last decade, which included the formation of a savings bank and a capital investment company and acquisition of an insurance brokerage. Rob currently serves on the board of directors of Seattle Financial Group and Seattle Bank. Story also oversaw the development of the company's reverse mortgage division, which grew to become the nation's third largest originator of reverse mortgages prior to its acquisition by Bank of America in 2007. Seattle Mortgage was a pioneer in the reverse mortgage field, working with Wall Street to offer the first-ever reverse mortgage-backed security and developing product innovations such as the jumbo reverse mortgage. With the strength of the reverse mortgage business fueling its growth and earnings, Seattle Bank was named the nation's most profitable non-S-corp. financial institution for 2006 by ABA Banking Journal. Story is active in industry trade associations and earned the Certified Mortgage Banker designation from the Mortgage Bankers Association. He has held a variety of offices in local, state and national mortgage associations and is currently chairman-elect of the national Mortgage Bankers Association, the nation's leading advocacy organization for the mortgage industry. Story, his wife and two sons reside in Seattle, Washington and are involved in numerous charitable and service organizations including Rotary International and Seattle Children's Hospital.
